When It All Began...A Family Business

Its' almost hard to believe that from their humble beginings more that 25 years ago with a single location in Newton, Focal Point Opticians has managed to become a beacon for craftsmanship, style and service for the industry in the Greater Boston Area. With over 50 designer lines of frames and winner of the Tab's Readers Choice Award, Focal Point has become a leader in their field. The 2003 Consumer Reports "Checkbook" recommended Focal Point Opticians for hte highest quality, exceptional service and style. "This industry is very rewarding knowing we servicing 3rd generation customers. Our loyalty runs coast to coast which is an impressive compliment to our Family Business." states owner Joanna Azzoto-Zafron.
The legacy started when Joanna Azzoto established Focal Point Opticians' first location in 1974. Since then, the business has continued to grow at about the same rate as the family. Neal joined Joanna at Focal Point in 1977, later marriying her, beginning the family tradition. In 1988, their son Jeffrey Azzoto joined the family team followed by brother Christopher Azzoto in 1989. In 1990 Focal Point doubled in size and business continued to flourish. The second Focal Point Opticians was established in Brookline in 1992 at 1678 Beacon Street. In 1994 their daughter Audrey Azzoto joined the rapidly growing family business. Soon after, the Beacon Street location relocated in a larger space at 248 Harvard Street in Coolidge Corner in Brookline. Now setting the bar for excellence, Focal Point Opticians has proven that a "mom & pop store" can offer a lot more than just a community feeling.
